Dr James Bromilow's clinical workload is split equally between Intensive Care Medicine (Critical Care Medicine / ICU / ITU) and Anaesthetics.

​

He is the Lead Consultant Intensivist within a multidisciplinary team running the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of his local NHS Trust. This busy, general intensive care unit admits over 800 patients per year. It has a broad case mix admitting patients from a number of different specialties including trauma, paediatrics, general surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT, gynaecology, medicine and elderly care. He is also medical lead within his NHS Trust for sepsis, intravenous fluids and Outreach services. He has acted as an expert advisor to national and regional organizations on resuscitation and sepsis.

Dr James Bromilow gives anaesthetics to patients in both the public and private healthcare sectors. In the private sector, he holds practicing privileges at BMI The Harbour Hospital and Bournemouth Nuffield Hospital as part of an anaesthetic collaborative group called Group Anaesthetic Services LLP. He anaesthetises patients from a wide variety of different specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, ENT, maxillofacial, gynaecology and plastic surgery. He is on the Medical Advisory Committee of BMI The Harbour Hospital and has recently published a major review article and book chapter in the anaesthetic literature.
